Welcome to a Special Edition of Lasso Online |

There’s no denying that the college application process can be menacing. Scary, even. It looms like a dark cloud above the heads of underclassmen, and pitilessly clobbers seniors who can think of more enjoyable ways of spending their time than writing essays that begin, “Playing soccer has taught me a lot about life in general…” And the frightful possibility that a student might be rejected from his or her dream school is always lurking. Such a dreadful turn of events would ruin the poor kid’s life, not to mention cast a pall of eternal shame on his or her entire extended family.
But it’s not as bad as all that. Really! We at Lasso Online understand your pain, because we are feeling it too. That is why we decided to put together this helpful special edition about college admissions. While it specifically addresses juniors and seniors, younger students will also find it useful. It ranges from individual student commentaries on the whole crazy process to an edifying glossary of college-related terms. If you view the process with a little less trepidation than before, we will have done our jobs.
Oh, and by the way, our sources tell us that you should never begin a college essay with a vaguely boring statement such as “Playing soccer has taught me a lot about life in general.” Just so you know.
