‘IZ’: A Taste of Heaven

By Meredith Kerrigan (June 2, 2005)

IZ’s Alone in IZ World is a wonderful transition from everyday music to a subtle Hawaiian beat. The refreshing smooth tune of the ukulele has a taste of Hawaiian culture.

It is hard to think that such a pure and relaxing voice could come from such a huge man of about 700 to 800 pounds. One of his most famous songs in Alone in IZ World is “Over the Rainbow.” This song has been featured in many movies including, “50 First Dates,” “Meet Joe Black,” and “Finding Forester.”

The song puts all of your troubles away and helps you find happiness inside of you. Other songs in his album that I would recommend are: “Hanohano Wale.”   Cowboy,” and “Ka Huila Wai, Henehene Kou ‘Aka, ‘Opae Ĕ and Panini Puakea.”

The music is upbeat and reflects his joy and happiness. His other CDs are, Facing Future, E AlA E,  N Dis Life and, and  IZ in Concert. His music is wonderful; I would recommend listening to his songs if you are looking for a transition from your everyday music.

Unfortunately, IZ died on June 26, 1997 from obesity and breathing problems at age 38. This CD was released after his death in 2001.
