Movie Review:

Hero

By: Eliot John Hagen (January 11, 2004)

‘Hero’ is a story of a warrior who visits the King of Qin in a divided China.  The hero, who has no name, but is known as Nameless, was summoned by the King due to his courageous deeds.  Nameless had killed three deadly assassins who were after the King, and the movie is told in flashbacks from numerous scenarios as Nameless explains to the King how he managed to succeed where thousands had failed.

One nice touch is that each scenario is told with a color scheme.  The first one is in red, the second in blue, the third in white, and the fourth in green.  It really accentuates the feeling of each scenario.  The red one revolves around pain and betrayal, the blue one is determination, the white one is peace and happiness, and the green one serves as a flashback.

With amazing photography and choreography, ‘Hero’ is a pleasure to watch.  It combines splendid fight scenes without gore, powerful music, and human emotion.  It’s a beautiful film to watch, and I suggest you see it.
