Senior Day for Mason Wrestling

Saturday February 7th, the Mustang wrestlers hosted their final home event of the season; a 6 team duals tournament against Group AAA Mclean and Yorktown, Group AA Fauquier and Park View and Group A Northumberland. In addition to adding 3 more team victories to bring the Mustangs to a 18-13 overall dual match and 3-1 Bull Run District record, the Mustangs bid farewell to 7 senior wrestlers and 2 senior managers. During the ceremony each of the seniors presented their mothers with flowers and were recognized for their wrestling accomplishments as follows:
 

Colin Ehmer at 140lbs is a Team Captain, and a 3 year Varsity Starter and Letter Winner. Last season he placed third in the Group A State championships after medaling in the Bull Run District and Region B Championships. He was named the Team’s Outstanding Wrestler last year. He is currently ranked third in the state for Group A.
 

Devlan Melancon at 145lbs is a Team Captain and is a 2 year Varsity Starter and Letter Winner. Last season, he placed second in the Bull Run District and Region B Championships and competed well in the Group A State Championships. This year, he has a 22-3 record, placed second in the Cougar Classic Invitational, and is currently ranked 3rd in the state for Group A. He was named the Team’s "Wrestler’s Wrestler" last year.

Mike Cummings at 152lbs is a 3 year Varsity Starter and letter winner. He won 18 matches for the Mustangs last year and has already won 18 this year and defeated a number of wrestlers who are currently ranked in the state. He has been a silver medalist in the Bison Duals and placed 5th in the Bull Run District after being eliminated at that level by 2 state championship placers.

Zach Schwind at 152lbs is a 2 year Varsity Starter and 3 year Varsity Letter Winner. He is a Bull Run District Medalist and Regional Qualifier and was twice awarded the Mustang’s "Team Player" Award. 
 

Mac Cohe at 171lbs is a 2 year Team Captain and 4 year Varsity Starter and Letter Winner. As a sophomore he was a District Medalist, Regional Qualifier and placed 2nd in Bison Duals, Cougar Classic and Amelia Invitational and was awarded the Team "Most Improved" Award. Last year he was injured after placing second in the Cougar Classic and Bison Duals, missed post season competition and earned the Team "Coach’s Leadership" Award. This year he was the Cougar Classic Champion, has a 29-4 record and is currently ranked 3rd in the state for Group A. On Saturday, he broke the GMHS season pin record with his 17th pin of the season.

Andrew Hipolit at 189lbs is a 4 year Varsity Starter and Letter Winner. He is a 2 year District Medalist and Regional Qualifier. This year he was the Cougar Classic Champion, has a season record of 29-6 and is currently ranked 7th in the state for Group A.

Tim Quintyn at 275lbs is a 3 year Varsity Starter and Letter Winner. Last year he was a District Medalist and Regional Qualifier and earned the Team’s "Most Improved" Award. This season he has won 16 matches for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs also honored senior managers Kory Lloyd and Haley Chrisco for their outstanding support this year.
