George Mason senior guard Beth Pyne has been named to the All-State second team by a panel of sportswriters who cover basketball across Virginia.

Pyne, who previously had been named to district and regional first teams, led her Mustangs to the regional quarterfinals before falling to Stonewall Jackson.

Pyne led her team in five categories for the season. She averaged 14.8 points per game and had 3.8 assists and 3.2 steals per game as well. She shot 88 percent from the free throw line and 37 percent from the three-point line.

"Beth certainly deserves this honor, she has been one of the most dedicated players I’ve coached. It’s gratifying that the sportswriters recognized her skills and contributions," said Mason head coach Chris Madison.
