The Lady Mustangs, fresh off their 48-point thrashing of Manassas Park Tuesday night, headed into last night’s game against Strasburg with confidence, and it showed as they trampled the Rams 50-32. 

Coach Chris Madison in an interview before the game pointed out that the key factors would be "the dominant play of Beth Pyne and Christina Sedney" backed by the "height advantage" gained with players Adrienne Thompson and Megan Ireland. Last year the Lady Mustangs suffered two crushing losses to the Rams, at home by one point in overtime, and by two in Strasburg. 

Last night’s game was nothing like the losses endured last year. The Lady Mustangs leapt out to a 14 – 8 lead in the first quarter. Senior Ireland stood out with 6 points and a number of blocks and steals. After the first quarter, Strasburg could not really put together an offense due to the fierce press put on by the Mustangs. The half ended with the Lady Mustangs well ahead of the Rams.

After half time they didn’t let down the press and continued punishing the rams with their dominant inside scoring. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Mustangs had the game totally in control, leading 42–18. In the fourth quarter, the Rams tried to make a short run, but were again shut down by the Mustangs' veteran defense. With about two minutes to go, the starters were pulled and the Mustangs collected their third district win.

Junior Christina Sedney led the Mustangs in scoring with 17 points, followed by Megan Ireland with 10 points. Seniors Beth Pyne, Jessica Szymanski, and Adrienne Thompson combined for another 20 points, helping the Mustangs in the effort to win the seventh game this season which brings their record to 7–3. 

The Mustangs travel to Brentsville this Thursday night to try and collect another win against Mason’s Rivals.
