Girls’ Soccer
Mustangs Tame Cougars, 4-0

By Kendra Webb (April 16, 2002)

The Mason girls’ soccer team defeated the Manassas Park Cougars 4-0 Friday night.

With a penalty kick opportunity early in the first half, thanks to a handball in the box, sophomore second-year player Alison Penland finessed the ball into the back of the net.

Later in the first half, senior forward Kendra Webb managed a ball in the high near corner to make the score 2-0 going into halftime.

Although completely dominating the playing field with possession and countless shots on goal, only two more points were scored by Mason, both by sophomore Becky Roa.

The team’s next district match is scheduled for April 23 at home against rival Brentsville District. Kick-off will be at 5:30pm.
