below the Saluting Battery and Upper Barrakka Gardens, this complex
of tunnerls and rooms housed the War Headquarters where commanders including Eisenhower and Montgomery coordinated the defense of Malta as well the invasion of Sicily (Operation Husky) and other operations in the Mediterranean |
