My
Dad Frank Paukstis and Stanley Plominski shared an apartment in NY before
the war (Manhattan, I think).
During the war they were both at Anzio, Stanley on the beach with the 88th Infantry Division and Dad on the USS Philadelphia bombarding the shore. They remained friends for decades after the war. I remember Dad helping Stanley remodel their house in Port Washington in the 50s. One day we went to church with them and I was so excited to find myself sitting next to Perry Como, the singer and TV star, who lived nearby in Sands Point.
