Shorthand students are now using the 1st electronic classroom in George Mason.
The equipment consists of a control machine and several tape recorders called audio notebooks, which
are operated by the teacher. Each student has earphones and a small box, which is radio controlled.
With this new equipment each student is able to receive individual instruction, so that the fast student can go ahead and won't be held back by the slower students. There are no wires between the boxes of the students and the control box of the teacher. There is only an "induction loop" in the room which carries the sound to be picked up by the individual boxes. Also the slower student will not be frustrated by dictation too fast for him. This new equipment also gives the teacher more freedom for observation and individual help.
