Unsung Heroes
Stage Crew Keeps GM Productions
Spectacular From Behind the Scenes

(March 18, 2007)

At every production in the George Mason auditorium, most of the audience is focused on the action happening onstage.  But what they’re missing is everything that goes on before, during, and after the show behind the scenes.  The members of the stage crew work diligently to create sets, handle props, and control the lights, sound, and music.  Their wide technical knowledge and years of combined experience contribute enormously to the quality of every GM performance.  Most of the senior members of the stage crew have contributed throughout their high school careers and even earlier, working to perfect their use of spotlights, sound effects, quick scene changes, and fantastic production design. Above, top row (from left to right) are seniors Rachel Taylor, Fritz Langford, David Maher, Alex Petersen, freshman Nils Westergard, junior Brennan Downey, senior Addison Blakemore, and Mr. John Ballou.  Bottom row (from left to right) are sophomores Ben Petersen, Will Walton, Taylor Demeter, and Zachary Emmons. All their amazing work will be on display this coming weekend when the drama department stages an unusual production of  As You Like It”(Photo by Sarah Van Buren)
