 Vegetarianism is for Wimps!

By Beau Fay

In this day and age, people are more health-conscious than ever before. Gyms all across the world are packed at peak hours with members of all shapes and sizes, most of whom are average folk in search of good health. Long gone are the days in which gyms were built for and inhabited exclusively by powerlifters and olympic lifters. As all should know, physical exercise is only one step in the road to optimum health. Many experts agree that the most important facet in this quest is the maintaining of good nutrition. In defining "good nutrition" one should take into account the proper intake of proteins, carbohydrates and essential fats. It has been proven repeatedly over the years by expert nutritionists that the proteins with among the highest biological value (BV) are those derived from meats and poultry. In essence, lean meats such as chicken, turkey, beef and fish contain proteins which are more complete than low-BV vegetable proteins. In other words, they are assimilated more efficiently through the body and are of a greater value to the human being. Therefore, those who commit themselves to a strict vegetarian diet are depriving themselves from these vitals.

There are some amongst the vegetarian communities that refuse to eat meat because they feel as though it in an inhumane act. For those many souls, I have a message—humans are currently atop the food chain. Therefore, it is our destiny to dine!

Now, of course there are certain vegetarians out there who have shied away from meats due to the recent spreading of mad cow and foot-and-mouth diseases. Said problems give vegetarians a "security blanket" under which to hide, providing nothing more than an excuse not to eat meat. Such individuals simply need to take the necessary precautions when purchasing meat products to ensure optimum safety.

When all things are considered, does it really make sense for one to work so hard to avoid delicious meats? Especially when this person will in turn deprive his or herself of necessities? Come on folks, let’s get with the program and wake up. There is no substitute for meat when one is looking for the ultimate combination of flavor and high nutritional value. And for the many who feel that they’re doing society a favor by sparing the animals, they must realize that there will always be meat eaters who are ready and willing to rain on your parade! So, shall we put your problems behind us all and have a burger while providing you with a free Freudian analysis??
