Mason Beats Madison 3-2 in
Overtime; Ups Record to 9-2

The Mustangs fought back to
win game five 15-11 in sudden death against the Madison County Mountaineers
Tuesday night at home.

The
Mustangs started off slow going 0-5, unable to get their defense
going in the first game which they lost 16-25. In
game two the Mustangs fired up their offense with a 7-2 start,
as the Mountaineers hiked back they were foiled by strong offensive
plays by Brittany Head and Kate Root.
In
game three their offensive charge did not stop after two great
aces by junior Kate Root and sophomore Tagan Argo. It only took
a kill by senior Katie Mitchell to put the icing on the cake. Game
five was a hard fought battle leaving the Mustangs tied in games
at 2-2.
In
sudden death the Mustangs wouldn’t say die starting off with two
vicious kills from Katie Mitchell and a failed serve would send
the Mountaineers back home. |

The Mustangs have had a strong
year and with this victory they have a 9-2 record. However, the team is 1-2 in the district but
hope to make a comeback in the district tournament. “We Thrive off the
support of our fans,” said senior captain Sabrina Whitney.
Credit
also must be given to the strong defensive team led by senior captain
Brittany Head. Head is the first Mustang to play as the libero. The
libero Is a player designated only to play defense and to serve. The
defense is backed up by a strong offense commanded by seniors Katie
Mitchell and Sabrina Whitney.
