Mustangs Defeat Panthers
36-7 in District Matchup
Face Clarke County Tonight Away
By Charlotte Volpe (October 27, 2006)
The Mustangs continued their winning ways in the Bull
Run District, improving their district record to 2-0 with a 36-7 victory
over Rappahannock County High
School last Saturday away.
The Mustangs started their offense early
with a 1-yard touchdown run by senior Eddie Huber, and sophomore Antoneo Folks
rushed for a 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 early. Folks rushed a
touchdown of his own later in the first quarter from 2 yards out, and
senior Ben Zorn booted the extra point to make it 15-0 Mustangs. During
the second quarter, junior quarterback Mike Schwengel connected
with fellow sophomore Joel Chandler on an 11-yard touchdown pass, and
another Ben Zorn extra point made it 22-0 Mustangs at the half.
During the third quarter, the Mustangs scored two more
rushing touchdowns, one by Huber from 18 yards out and another by Folks
from 32 yards out. The Panthers did score once, on a 42-yard pass play
during the fourth quarter, but they never really threatened after that.
The Mustangs’ next game is tonight
at Clarke County High
School. Their final home game of the
regular season is on Friday, November 3, versus Manassas Park High
School.
