Ever been to a Latin American country? And if so, have you ever been to an authentic
restaurant there? Maybe
not? That’s okay. What
if I told you that you could experience the same sights, sounds,
smells, and culture right here in Falls Church?
It’s
Monday. I’m
at school and I’m starving. I
had that big history test I forgot to study for so I skipped lunch… once
again. Leaving the school, I ponder where I could
go to satisfy this unrelenting hunger that has plagued my stomach
all day. In a situation like this, you can only follow
your gut. Mine leads me
right to Burrito Brothers.
The friendly environment greets me at the door as
the cashier smiles my way. Some
employees are talking in the back, in Spanish of course, but that
is soon drowned out by the Latin pop coming from the radio. Burrito
Brothers is by no means a fancy place; hard wood floors are covered
by wooden chairs and wooden tables. My
order is always the same, “One number 1, please,” I say to the cashier.
A number 1 is a Super-Burrito. However, after ordering the number
1, there is still so much more to choose. I
have my choice of pork, chicken, or beef, black, refried, or pinto
beans, guacamole, salsa, or sour cream, and this all comes with a
beverage. I’m still not done.
After I pay $8.50, I then head on over to the salsa
bar and choose which color salsa I would like to dip my oversized
burrito in. The choices are endless, ranging from the super-spicy
green to the mild red onion. Finally,
with cups of greens, reds, and browns in hand, I find my table. As
they bring my burrito, I am continuously surprised by the mass of
the shining silver cylinder. Unwrap the tin foil and now the only thing
that stands in the way between me and my “Burrito Everest” is a freshly
pressed flowered tortilla.
If you are in a less ravenous mood, the tacos, nachos,
and primo burritos are also superb. The
downside to this otherwise glorious burrito joint is that sometimes
it can get a little pricey, but being full for the rest of the day
is well worth it. This Tex-Mex heaven is a real find and definitely
something to experience.
