Scores Audition for ‘Pajama Game’

By K. K. Bracken (September 20, 2006)

Auditions took place Monday and Tuesday in the auditorium for the fall production of "The Pajama Game."       Students were asked to sing a song of their choice that showed their general vocal range, acting and projecting as much as possible.

Ms. Pamela Spicer, the director and ultimately in charge of casting for "The Pajama Game," presided over the auditions (which were open to grades 8-12) and hoped to "not traumatize them [the auditioners]."

For first-timers like Johanna Ballou (ninth grade), the auditions were "really, really scary." She sang “Part of Your World” for her audition and hopes to take away a good first theatrical experience from the fall musical.

Veteran to the Mason theater program Tracy Geren, a junior who sings the national anthem at the Mason home football games, offers the advice "know the song you're going to sing and be ready to sing it."

Mrs. Spicer explains "it's not just about the vocals, it's about your presence on stage and performing the piece." When asked for advice, she quickly replied "have fun!"

Callbacks are Wednesday, and Lasso Online will be the first to post the cast list. "The Pajama Game" will show in the Mason auditorium on November 30, December 1 and 2 at 7:30.
