Earlier that day, the class had performed the
piece for some of the student body, followed by a question and
comment section. Audience members were encouraged to remark on
what could be improved, and the actors took note for the real performance
later that evening.
The props loaded onto the bus included
fake severed body parts, a mad scientist’s lab, and lots of fake
blood, either on costumes or intended to create lifelike zombie
bites onstage.
“Our play at Madison county was
our best yet,” says Joseph Kendra, who played Duane the eventual
zombie. “The audience really got a kick out of it.”
At the end, awards were given for the
top two plays performed and the top eight all-district actors.
Clarke and Madison County took
the top two spots, performing “Actor’s Nightmare” and “The Bald
Soprano,” respectively. Anna Lathrop, Nathan Ward, and K-K Bracken
were awarded three of the eight all-district positions. |
