Poet Laureate Foronda Explored
Art and Poetry During Reading

Virginia Poet Laureate Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda works with students in Ms. Mears’s creative writing class during her visit earlier today. Foronda assigned paintings to the students who in turn wrote creative responses to each. Later, Foronda gave a poetry reading that also included the relationship between poetry and the other arts.  During her reading, she brought up several students to read with her in a form of verse called simultaneous poetry. Foronda’s visit was made possible by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the GMHS PTSA.  (Photo by Nick Farstad)   4-9-07
