It’s
been reported in
the news that Northern
Virginia supplies nearly
one-third of the student body at Virginia Tech and George Mason has certainly
contributed its share. Over the past five years, 52 Mason graduates have become
Hokies and there are currently 38 still in attendance.In the aftermath of the tragedy earlier this
week on the Virginia Tech campus and to show solidarity with their alumni at
Tech, scores and scores of Mustangs dressed today in Hokie orange and maroon.
In addition, students decorated the glass-enclosed display case outside of the
library with Hokie memorabilia. The sign in front of the school was draped in
the Virginia Tech flag and everyone stayed respectfully silent for Governor Tim
Kaine’s requested minute of silence precisely at noon. The students and staff here at Mason want
their friends at Tech to know we’re thinking about them every day. (Photo by
