Juniors and Faculty Members Open
Up Challenge Days Return to GM
Juniors
Yusof Becker and Imran Jaffer enter the auxiliary gym to applause
by faculty members
to begin their Challenge Day experience with the other members
of their class Wednesday morning.Either today or tomorrow, 130 juniors will
spend the entire school-day engaging in activities to promote
sensitivity and
understanding among Mason students.This
is the second year that Mason juniors (as well as many faculty members) will
experience Challenge Day, the brainchild of a non-profit
California-based group “committed to stopping teen
violence and alienation.”The Challenge
Day program cites Mohandas Gandhi’s statement to “be the change you want to see
in the world” as inspiration for its mission. The
event is funded through charitable donations made to a grant foundation
started by Mr. Nicholas Benton, editor and publisher of the Falls Church News-Press. (Photo by Francisco
