Once again, the time has come for pumpkin patches and autumn leaves to decorate our metropolitan neighborhoods.  The season’s colorful features surround you wherever you go with newspaper advertisements flaunting the best bargains on Halloween costumes and supermarkets welcoming customers to aisles filled with pounds of candy.  It is impossible to escape fall’s festivities, so why not just join in?

Here are some local activities that are sure to offer fun and amusing memories!

Nightmare Forest

For those who dare to venture through the 30-minute tour located in the woods of Sterling, Virginia, the Nightmare Forest is sure to provide a truly spooky Halloween experience.  If you are a true risk-seeker, you can sign up for the tour designated for anyone older than 10 years of age.  But be sure to bring someone with you because it is said that few make it out alive!

Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch at Cox Farms

Cox Farms provides amusement for everyone, both young and old, on those beautiful autumn days!  Complete with hayrides, a produce market, a pumpkin patch, and mazes, the farm is known as a "low-tech amusement park."  Although unique events take place all season long, Pumpkin Madness will surely be one that you won't want to miss!  Scheduled for this upcoming weekend, Pumpkin Madness is an event in which people destroy, launch and toss pumpkins!

North Run Farm Corn Maze

Have you ever attempted to find your way through a giant scarecrow maze?  If not, here's your chance! Home to not only a massive maze that from an aerial view resembles a scarecrow but also many other mazes is North Run Farm.  Located in Stevenson, Maryland, the farm is a nice break from the city and makes for a great workout with tons of trails waiting to be explored!
