Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse
Mustangs Outrun Eagles, 8-5

By Olivia Farrow (May 1, 2006)

Although injuries from previous games were numerous, the girls’ lacrosse team outmaneuvered the Liberty Eagles Thursday night, walking away with a 8-5 victory.

Agility was the determining factor in the match, both for the offensive and defensive players. The defenders especially proved effective under sophomore goalie Hannah Baumgardner, stepping up to the crease and making six saves to stand in for regular goalie Emily Perry, who is recovering from injuries.

Assists and passes from midfielders such as Catherine Duarte and Emily Walden smoothed transitions from defense to offense, pushing the plays up to attackers such as Maddie Kaplow and Sally Blakemore for quick and efficient goals. Using their ambidextrous abilities, the offenders took several goals off of well-executed plays, one of which had only been practiced the day before.

The team will be playing Heritage on Monday May 1 at 6:00 in the Moore Cadillac Stadium.
