Mustangs Defeat Strasburg 50-42;
Earn Ticket to Regionals

Led by senior Maggie O’Toole’s 16 points and senior Alex Pender’s 12 points and 12 rebounds, The Lady Mustangs overcame rival Strasburg in the semifinals of the Bull Run district tournament Wednesday night and won 50-42.

The game started off a bit rocky as the Mustangs struggled to keep up with the Rams’ constant outside shooting.  But down by one point coming out of the half, the Mustangs came back strong.  Junior Ashley Thompson cleaned the boards with 16 rebounds and an strong display of defense.  The Mustangs continued fighting till the last minute of the game to secure a strong victory.              

This win secured the Mustangs a spot in the regional tournament next week.  This will be the first time since the 2002 season that they will compete in regionals.  The Lady Mustangs will be playing Clarke County Friday night in the final round of the district tournament for the championship.
