‘Grandmas’s Boy’: Simple,
Stupid, Hilarious!

First
off, if you don’t like movies that seem to be
pointless and have no plot, don’t read on. On the other hand, if you
just want to laugh and not worry about the story, this is definitely
the movie for you.
The movie is centrally based around
a 35-year-old video game tester named Alex (Allen Covert). He gets
kicked out of
his apartment because the man who he was giving the money to was spending
it on certain illegal services that we won’t get into. Anyway, Alex
cannot find a place to stay, so while he is testing the latest video
game due for release in a few short weeks, he crashes at his grandma’s
(Doris Roberts) house. Work life is normally easy, but since the new
game is coming out soon, Alex is pushed hard by his annoying nerd boss
J.P. (Joel David Moore), who also thinks he is a robot. A beautiful
young executive (Linda Cardelinni) comes
to the office that Alex works at to oversee the final stages of the
game and inevitably likes hanging around all the nerds and has a crush
on Alex. All very predictable, but it is delivered in a great comedic
fashion.
When I say “great comedic fashion,” I mean that the
movie is so stupid it’s funny. Literally nothing happens in the movie
besides partying, video game playing, and doing certain illegal substances
to the point where it’s laughable. The plot of trying to finish the
new video game on time is only in the movie so it can actually pretend
to be called a movie.
After all these shortcomings in the
very simple and predictable plot, I still laughed through the entire
movie. And that’s
what you go to the movies for: Entertainment. Beware though, if you
don’t like immature comedy or laughing at things that are clearly funny,
don’t see this movie. If you just want to turn your brain off for an
hour and a half and laugh though, this is a great movie for you, and
it should be very entertaining.
