Arrest Made In Killing of 1993
Mason Grad Margaret Muller
(January 28, 2006)
An arrest has been made in the long-running investigation
of the stabbing death of Margaret Muller, a 1993 graduate of George Mason High
School, who was brutally attacked nearly
three years ago while jogging in east London’s
Victoria Park in February, 2003.
As
reported in a Reuters story, a police spokesperson
said, “We can confirm that yesterday detectives arrested a 21-year-old
man from the Hackney area in connection with the murder of Margaret
Muller.”
News reports indicated that the arrested
man was Christopher Duncan, “an Eminem obsessive
who was jailed for life in December after admitting he had battered
a student to death with a baseball bat.”
Reuters reported that “there have been
a number of arrests as part of the inquiry into the Muller killing,
but the suspects have all been released without charge.”
Muller, an artist who had come to Britain in
1998 to study at a leading art school, the Slade School of Fine Art, “was
found lying in a pool of blood by passers-by who had heard her screams.” The
attack had taken place at 8:30 in
the morning, in broad daylight.
Lasso Online first reported on Muller’s
death and the subsequent arrest of a suspect on March
12, 2003. That suspect, Colin Cummins, was later released.
Muller was one of Mason’s outstanding
artists who was noted for her life-size canvasses. A website, margaretmuller.com,
reveals the history of efforts, including reward money, that had been offered over the past few years in attempts
to solve her murder. Links at that website will allow readers to
view some of Muller’s impressive art works.
