Students perform a “significant figures” experiment in the just opened science labs in what used to be the math wing. The renovation began immediately following the end of last school year and continued at a fast pace throughout the summer. The three new and six old science labs opened for business Monday, one week after school began. Science classes met in the auditorium for the first week of school. According to science department chair Mary McDowell, the new labs will soon be “state of the art,” once every piece of equipment is up and running. The new labs also feature new safety mechanisms such as an explosion-proof refrigerator, special eye washers for emergencies, as well as an emergency exhaust system.   (Lasso Online Photo)    9/14/05
