And They’re Off!
153 Members of the Class of 2006
Celebrate Graduation in D.C.

Joy was felt from ear to ear as the just-graduated members of the Class of 2006 threw their caps in the air to celebrate a terrific graduation last night at Constitution Hall. The graduates were addressed by fellow students Nick Pitas and Emily Walden, the valedictory speakers, and also heard advice from Mr. Tim Shriver, director of the International Special Olympics Organization. Mr. Shriver urged the graduates to be smart in choosing their role models. He told three poignant stories of young people who are mentally challenged, all of whom he considers role models for their perseverance in the face of social challenges. Shriver challenged the members of the graduating class, who he referred to as “miracles” to strive to become role models themselves. (Photo by Sally Larisch)     6-16-06
