MUN Reps Make History in
Italy;
3 Earn ‘Special Recognition’
For the first time in
its long history, the Model United Nations team sent representatives to
a conference in Europe. Eight MUN members, along with their sponsor Ms.
Tammy Chincheck, attended the GEMUN Conference in Genoa, Italy, two
weeks ago. The students, Eric Brooks, Michael Costelloe, Sofia
Misenheimer, Isabelle Hazaan, Ruhee Jaffer, Sarah Sullivan, Miriam
Alshagra, and Katie Mitchell, were the only representatives from North
America. Three of the members, Brooks, Alshagra, and Mitchell, earned
special recognition for their work in various committees. About 375
students from Russia, Turkey, India, Poland, Lebanon, Germany, Britain,
and the Netherlands attended. The Masonites also found time for a tour
of Pisa and Florence. Here the MUN representatives pose in front of a
fountain at the Palazza Ducale, an old Doge Palace from the days when
Genoa was a city state. (Photo by Tammy Chincheck) 3/14/06
