Jeff Beard, center, the Director General designate of the International
Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), and Mr. Brad Richardson, left,
Regional Director of the IB North America office, discuss ideas with
principal Bob Snee during their two-day visit to Mason, home of one of
the longest-standing IB programs in the US. The two educators held a
colloquy with teachers and visited classes, including a Theory of
Knowledge class. Snee, who has been very active in many capacities with
the IB organization, said, “It is rare for a school to have the
Director General visit; the last time that happened here was 10 years
ago. Our teachers learned from Mr. Beard’s and Mr. Richardson’s visit,
but the visitors also got important insights into teachers’ concerns
