Small Town Symbolism Woven
Into Nette’s
1st Place Quilt

October 13, 2005

After two and a half years of assembling her award-winning quilt, paraprofessional Janice Nette poses with her impressive artwork that serves as an ode to the common man. The inspiration for the quilt’s theme comes from the well-known holiday classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” staring Jimmy Stewart. Locations like Gower’s Drug Store and Bedford Falls High School from Bedford Falls, the cinematic small town in the film, are featured in the quilt. Sewn into the deep red frame of the quilt are memorable lines from the film such as, “Each man’s life touches so many other lives.” Nette’s dedicated work won her a first-place ribbon at the Richmond, Virginia, State Fair.
