Track, Strasburg Meet

Boys’ 4X4 Team Takes First;
Ek, Stanley Excel for Girls’

In their fourth meet of the season, the girls’ track team placed third overall with a score of 31 and the boys’ team placed second with a score of 59 against East Hardy High School of West Virginia and Strasburg at Strasburg last Wednesday.

Sophomore Agnes Ek achieved a personal best time of 2:32 in the 800 meter run, while Sarah Stanley reached her personal record for the year in the discus.

For the boys’ team, senior John Sullivan placed first in the mile and the two-mile run, and freshman Josh Jenkins placed first in the 100 and 400 meter dash. The 4x4 team of Chad O’Hara, Ted Rowdybush, Justin Morrison, and Jon Byers had a strong first-place finish with a time of 3:43.

Furthermore, Suzanne Sullivan finished first in the 3200 meter run followed by a second place finish by Emma Goetz. Sarah Stanley finished second in the shot with a distance of 28 feet and four inches. Lydia Fairfax finished second in the 1600 with a time of 6 .27 seconds. Nikki Williamson who finished third with a time of 6.30 seconds followed her closely. Leah Clark finished third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 1.09.4. The girls placed second in the 4x400.

In addition, Bob Bumgardner finished second in the long jump, as well as the shot put. Jonathan Byers finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2.15, Alex Nette followed close behind him to claim a second place finish for the boys’ team with a time of 2.24. Ed Hickey finished third in discuss with a distance of 88’ 10".

A home meet against Madison County is scheduled for this Wednesday, April 27.
