Sullivan, Pitas Take Fourth, Sixth
Places at Ram Rumble

By Nick Pitas (February 1, 2005)

Senior captain John Sullivan, in his first competition since undergoing an appendectomy over a month ago, wrestled his way to a fourth place finish at 171 pounds this weekend at the Ram Rumble in Williamsburg, Virginia. "I’m glad that I’m finally able to get on the mat again. I hope to be at 100% in time for the post-season tournaments," said Sullivan.

Also medaling was his junior co-captain Nick Pitas, who garnered a sixth place finish at 125 pounds. Two other Mustangs, Michael Coleman (130 pounds), and Willy Hoover (152 pounds) battled injury and managed to win multiple matches, finishing one round out of medal contention. Tashdid Khan (119 pounds) was the other wrestler to win a match for the Mustangs, and was able to advance to the second day of competition.

The competition was fierce at Lafayette High School, featuring 18 AAA and AA teams, and several individual state champions. In the end, the Forest Park Bruins, of Prince William County ruled the day, as they narrowly beat out a tough Manassas Park squad.

In his first tournament back since his appendectomy,
senior captain John Sullivan (171 pounds) advanced to
semifinals until he lost due to an injury related to his
appendectomy. He earned a fourth place at the Ram
 Rumble last weekend in Williamsburg.
