Mustangs Send Conquerors Home Empty-Handed

The varsity girls’ basketball team gave a strong performance in front of a home crowd for its home opener against Calvary Temple, beating the Conquerors 56-30 last Monday.  The stage was set for the Lady Mustangs by a solid win, 53-41 by the boys’ jv team, also against the Conquerors.

The Lady Mustangs came out ready to play, and backed by a tremendous crowd; the Mustangs jumped ahead of the Conquerors and never looked back.  “The team showed great athletic ability running the whole game and never tiring, although with the depth of the team this year we can substitute as much as we need.  I feel comfortable with any five of my players out on the floor,” said head coach Dan Wilkie.

The girls showed what they have been working hard on for the last three weeks; they ran their plays flawlessly and showed that Mason defense is a serious threat to any offense. Even the full court press the players only learned only the day before, was able to send the Conquerors retreating.  The Mustangs kick-off the district season against Rappahannock at home on Friday.
