On Tuesday night Mason achieved its first victory of the season 54-8, against the AAA Jeb Stewart Raiders. This brings the Mason freshmen/ JV team to a 1-2 record. The starters of the game were Kate Root, Abby Stroup, Hannah Baumgarder, Rachel Kazman and Kit Thackrey. The team started strong and remained strong throughout the whole game. "We executed the game plan, fast break and transition, that is what improved from our last game in those areas and that was the key to our success," said head coach Carlyn Kuder.

The girls’ JV team bagged its first win of the season 59-2 against the Jeb Stewart Raiders. The Mustangs now stand at 1-2, following opening-season losses to Broad Run and Yorktown. With the help from some varsity players, the J.V team pulled to the lead and remained there throughout the whole game. The starters of the game were Bailey Walton, Meredith Hamme, Emily Sabbatini, Annie Zweighaft and Katerina Zissios. Bailey Walton was the leading scorer with more than half of the points scored. Head coach Carlyn Kuder said, "We had more experienced players and played very well together. Our defense was smothering as we held the other team to two points."
