Williams Leads Rushing Attack with 207
Yards as Mason Beats Madison 27-6

By Adam Knudsen (October 20, 2004)

Senior Steve Williams carried 25 times for an impressive 207 yards as he led his Mustangs to a 27-6 victory over Madison County last Friday under the lights at Moore Cadillac Stadium. The victory puts Mason at 1-0 in the Bull Run District, 3-2 overall.

The Mustangs took the early lead as Williams and sophomore Travis Greene scored on runs in the second quarter. Mason dominated the Mountaineers by running the ball time and time again, eventually breaking down the Madison defense. Greene added 50 yards to the rushing total on 13 carries.

Due to the strength of the running game, Mustang quarterback Eric Blush only needed to throw five times, finding open receivers who gained 18 yards on two receptions.

Mason will meet Rappahannock Friday night at 7:30 for their second contest with a district opponent. This will be Mason’s Homecoming game.

Senior running back Steve Williams turns the corner for
some of his impressive 207 rushing yards that led the way for
his Mustangs’ 27-6 victory over Madison County Friday night
at home. Mason is also at home tomorrow night against
district rival Rappahannock at 7:30. There will be an
SCA-sponsored tailgate party an hour before the game.
