Mustangs Slay Dragons 33-13
For First Season Win

The Mustangs defeated the William Monroe Green Dragons 33-13 last Friday night for their first victory of the year and their first victory ever under the lights. Senior Stevie Williams began the game by scoring two touchdowns in the second quarter. Williams ended the day with 12 carries for 124 yards. The Mustangs now stand at 1-2 for the season. 

William Monroe answered back with a nine-yard passing touchdown in the middle of the second quarter.  During the last minute of the first half, Mason put together a 70-yard touchdown drive.  This drive was complimented with two long passes, taking mason 70 yards downfield.  The drive was completed with a three-yard touchdown run by John Schwengel.  At the end of the first half the score was 20-6.

At the beginning of the third quarter, the Mustangs expanded their lead with a five-yard rushing touchdown from senior Mike Isom.  “Mike Isom pranced the three yards into the end zone”, said linebacker Danny Johnson.  Mason completed the PAT to go up by 21. 

 

Midway through the second half, William Monroe scored once again with a 45-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead by 7.  Stevie Williams scored one more time during the fourth quarter bringing the teams to the final score of 33-13.

The Mustangs take on Covington High School away tonight at 7:30.
