Hoover, Pitas Score 4 Pins Each;
Lead Mason in 4-Team Tournament

By Nick Pitas (January 21, 2005)

Juniors Willy Hoover (152 pounds) and Nick Pitas (125 pounds) led the George Mason wrestlers last Saturday at home, recording four wins apiece. Competing against two AAA schools in North Stafford and Edison, and a AA school in New Kent, the Mustangs recorded two dual victories. Hoover and Pitas led the team with three combined pins, and a technical fall. Coach John Pitas said, "We showed more fight here than I’ve seen all year."

The entire lineup came through for the Mustangs, as several wrestlers recorded multiple victories. Juniors Tashdid Kahn (119 pounds) and Mike Coleman (135 pounds) both came through with three wins, dropping close matches to their New Kent opponents. Also recording victories for the Mustangs were sophomores Ramsey Hannah (160 pounds), Rick Schumann (189 pounds), Barret Kennet (171 pounds), Andy Millar (130 pounds), and Trevor Quillin (140 pounds).

Also making a showing for Mason were first year competitors Mark Palmieri (112 pounds), and Joe Kendra (152 pounds).
