Freshman Juelie Chandler and sophomore Amanda Kjellkvist take the World
Civilizations SOL test online. This
represents two of the 525 tests given electronically covering Reading,
Earth Science, Algebra 1 and World Civilizations II. These
end-of-year course tests are mandated
by the state. This is the most extensive Standards of
Learning testing yet to be done online in the high school. Still
being done in a
traditional paper format are Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, Chemistry,
U. S.
History and Writing. According to
guidance director Ken Siekman, who is coordinating the testing,
“Testing online
will enable us to get the results back more quickly.” Another
advantage to online testing is that counselors
can monitor students’ progress during the electronic sessions as seen
in the
picture above right. (Photos by Eileen Backofen).
