International Club Turns Gourmet;
Raises Money for Refugee Aid
For the second year in a row yesterday, the
International Club provided an international dinner buffet on
Back-To-School Night for teachers, students, and parents. Students and
club advisor Suzanne Planas provided many international dishes-and some
not so international-such as lasagna, pad thai, kichuri (a Bengali rice
and lentil dish), Asian spiced salad, fried rice, pizza, and many other
main dishes and desserts. The night was a success, with the club
raising over $450 which will be put toward various club activities
throughout the year, and their one main focus of the year, which is
raising money to donate to a refugee aid organization, as they did last
year. Both teachers and parents said they were grateful to the club for
providing such a spread, because BTSN is a very hectic and busy time
for everyone, and it is difficult to find time to eat dinner. Faculty
and staff did not have to pay the $5 per plate price themselves,
because the administration paid for their meals. 9/23/04
