All of the Mason students who are to retake
the Virginia Standards of Learning Tests, and those transfer students
who attended schools outside of Virginia, will take the standardized
tests in a new way that doesn’t require filling in those little bubbles
with a #2 pencil. Now all of the students taking SOL’s in all subjects
will do so online during this week. Guidance director Mr. Siekman
explained the advantages of taking SOL’s online. “Many students seem to
enjoy taking SOL’s more online than with the traditional pen and paper
exams, and we save more trees this way. He went on to say that the
students seem to be performing better on the online exams, and that the
results can be seen much earlier than with the time-consuming process
before. Students can now see their results by the end of the week
rather than waiting weeks for them. Here students take the crucial
