With just 48 days left till the election, I wonder what the outcome of the presidential debates will be. At this point the two candidates have been bickering about a war that started over 50 years ago. Why would the American public care about how many purple hearts John Kerry actually has or how exactly George W. Bush managed to dodge the draft? This has absolutely no relevance to any of the people in the United States.
How about discussing events that may be important to society
at this
time? Maybe they should discuss the pressing issue of how each
president will help the poor nation of Sudan, which is in complete
turmoil. Clearly the Bush campaign thinks that it would be a brilliant
idea to sanction the poor and helpless country of Sudan through
the United Nations. How would Kerry respond this impending disaster?
Who knows? The American public has not heard many of Kerry’s views. The
majors points that Kerry expresses seem to be a repetition of Bush’s
words. John Kerry states that he would still have gone to war in Iraq
even with the evidence that we now have. Those are Bush’s sentiments
exactly. Neither of the candidates dares to bring up the war in
Afghanistan, in fear that the American public might remember
it. What about the economy? We all know George W. Bush’s plan of giving tax cuts to the rich, and eventually forcing the country into recession. Then, he convinces the people that war will raise the economy. War just happens to bring the country into an even deeper recession with a significant unemployment rate. Unfortunately, we do not know of the other possibilities that John Kerry has to address these issues, because he never talks about them. He is too busy showing off his Purple Hearts.
Why does Kerry not prove what he can offer to the country? It is because he is playing on the defense. The Republicans are too good at this game they call an election. They play dirty, but hey, this tactic has given them a sizeable lead over Kerry. A good example are Cheney’s remarks in Iowa. Cheney said, "It’s absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on November 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we’ll get hit again and we’ll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States." This was a perfect not-so-subtle attack on the possible future Kerry administration. Such a statement will stick in the minds of the American voter, because of all the media coverage it is getting. What did Kerry have to say to that? NOTHING! Even John Edwards said something about it. I hope everyday that the Bush regime does not regain power in America, but right now, there is no escape in sight. Kerry is down in the polls, and has not done anything to try to rise up. Kerry’s failure to advance in the polls is because he does not differentiate himself from Bush in any way. John Kerry has got to start speaking about topics that will help him show the bad side of George W. Bush. Instead of getting battered around by various Republican leaders, STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, JOHN KERRY! ITell us what you think. E-mail lassogmhs@hotmail.com |
