2 Vets, 5 Novices Win Awards at Last Conference of Year

Two senior veterans and five novices won Honorable Delegation awards at the last Model United Nations Conference of the year, TechMUN, at Thomas Jefferson High School. 

Seniors Arya Namboodiri and Richard Arndt represented France at their last confernce ever, and were apart of the World Health Organization committee. Sophomores Laura Shu and Sofia Misenheimer, also representing France, were in SPECPOL, Special Political and Decolonization.

There were 643 delegations from 25 different schools in attendence at the conference, which took place on Friday Apr. 16 and Saturday Apr. 17. Three middle school students also won honorable mentions as well. The 14 Mason students represented France, Greece, and Sudan. 

"I think the 2004 TJ TechMUN conference was a great way for our club to round out the year. It was a solid, challenging experience for our members. The conference provided a terrific opportunity for everyone to practice their public speaking, negotiating, and debating skills," said Eurica Chang, MUN co-sponsor. Sophomore Sofia Misenheimer agreed when she said, "We learned a lot about world affairs. It was a great experience."
