Condo’s Long-Awaited Opening
Mason Musicians Play at
The Broadway’s Inauguration

By Andrea Genovese Soares (April 22, 2004)

Ensembles of the high school band and Madrigals performed at the inauguration of The Broadway condominiums last Friday. The jazz, clarinet, and flute ensembles were led by band conductor Mrs. Mary Jo Webster, while the Madrigals were accompanied and conducted by interim conductor Mrs. Connie Jenkins, and Mrs. Janice Nette.

Dressed in full concert attire, these students contributed to the atmosphere of this black tie event, during which Falls Church Mayor Dan Gardner spoke. The ensembles performed known pieces like Malagueña, by Ernesto Lecuona and the theme of the Pink Panther, by Henry Mancini.

The Madrigals performed later, songs like "La Musica," by Jay Althouse and "O Magnum Mysterium," by Thomas Luis de Victoria, the hardest piece this choir has attempted yet. For most of the songs, Mrs. Jenkins accompanied the choir, while Mrs. Nette conducted.

The Broadway is an upscale complex of condos and shops that has been under construction on Broad Street for the past two years and is near completion and opening.
