3 Named Best Actors
‘Beggars’ Opera’ Players Take 2nd;
Head to Regionals Nov. 21

Mason’s vagabonds of Beggars’ Opera earned second place at the District One-Act Play Competition at Madison County last Tuesday. Taking first place was Madison County, for its condensed version of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.

The high finish qualified Mason’s Players for regional competition on Nov. 21.

"The kids were simply fabulous," said director Frank Marino. "They have done such a wonderful job, considering the short amount of time there was to prepare it. We weren’t able to begin rehearsing until "Murder on the Nile" was finished and that left us very little time."

Marino was not the only one impressed. The judges named juniors Todd Johnston, Claire Smalley, and Dan Burkey as among the "best actors" for their outstanding performances in Tuesday’s show.
