Waiting for Isabel
Preparing for the Worst,
Hoping for the Best

Students practice the safety drill called “Tornado Watch,”
in preparation for hurricane Isabel’s impending arrival tomorrow. The storm
has been building in the Atlantic for days and once was a category five
storm. While it has lowered in intensity to a high 2, low 3 status, it
is still expected to cause massive disruptions with its strong winds and
heavy rains. The storm is expected to pass through Falls Church tomorrow
afternoon. Today, superintendent Mary Ellen Shaw announced that all activities
after school on Thursday would be cancelled, including tomorrow night’s
annual back-to-school night which has been rescheduled for next Wednesday.
