Class of 2004
Rau to be Commencement Speaker
School Resource Officer Steve Rau will address the class
of 2004 graduation at Constitution Hall on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. Of
the 10 years he has been working for the Falls Church City Police force,
Rau has spent five of them at GMHS. Currently officer Rau, father of two,
is a member of the National Army Reserve and recently came back from a
nine month stint of training soldiers who are to go over seas at Fort Lee
in Virginia. Before Falls Church, Rau was on the Alexandria Sheriff’s force
for six years. When asked to be the class of 2004’s speaker, Rau said,
“I am honored, extremely honored. Something I never expected.” “We selected
Officer Rau because he resonates so well with the members of our class,”
said class officer Arya Namboodiri. “We chose Officer Rau because he has
been so close to our class, everyone in our class believes that he is more
than our School Resource Officer, he’s our friend,” said class officer
