Americans Give a Singing
Note to French Restaurant

By Camille Christophel (June 7, 2004)

On May 24, a few singers from Mason performed at the French restaurant, La Cote d’Or, in Arlington County. It was the charter night dinner for the Falls Church Lions Club. This club works all around the country to help people in charitable ways. They get together to help on projects around the city such as "Eyeglass Recycling Center" to give glasses to people who can’t afford them and "White Cane Days."

Twelve students from Mason picked seven songs to croon. Senior Katherine Bernhart and sophomore Andy Tonken sang "My New Philosophy" from the musical "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown".

Juniors Lili Miller and Brittany Smith, sang, "My Mavorite Things" from the "Sound of Music" and two songs from the spring musical "Bye Bye Birdie," "Kids" and "Baby, Talk to me"

Katherine Bernhart came back and picked a song from her "idol," Kristin Chenoweth, the main character in the Broadway show "Wicked." The song was "The Girl in 14G", and includes parts of "Traviata".

Junior Alex Burnett Greinstein, with her very cute red dress and hat, sang "Not for Me" by Gershwin.

To end the show, juniors Jason Martinez and Daisy Torla, with freshman Jessica Cartwright sang an amazing version of "When You Believe," the soundtrack from "Prince of Egypt".
