Radford Sports Update
Girls’ Soccer, Tennis Fall at States
(June 8, 2003, 9:30 pm)

The defending state champion Mustangs fell to arch rival Brentsville High School 4-0 this afternoon on a muddy, rain-drenched field at Radford College. This was the fifth meeting of the year between the two Bull Run District opponents.

The Tigers bested the Mustangs in the first three encounters, only to lose to Mason last week in the regional finals. Mason principal Bob Snee reported that star goalie Megan Wilhelm went out with 22 minutes remaining in the championship game after a kick to her lower right leg while making a save. She was replaced by rookie goalkeeper Alex Pender.

The tennis team lost a close match to Gate City High School, 5-3, in a contest that had to be moved indoors.
