Boys Beat Yorktown
By Sara Kaplow (May 6, 2003)

The Mason girls' lacrosse team ended their tiring week with another win against the McLean School. In the ladies’ fourth game of the week, six different players scored goals in the 12-6 victory. On the same field, the Mason boys took on Sidwell Friends and lost 11-5 despite an early lead.

The game was part of the annual Falls Church Lacrosse Day, an event which typically features a number of games by the various levels of lacrosse that exist here in the city. For the varsity teams, it was also senior day, in which seniors Katy Aylor, Emily Fellows, Sara Kaplow, Ricky Redick, Luis Falcon, and Clayton Goins were honored.

Prior to their  12-6 victory over McLean School of
Maryland last Saturday, the Mason lacrosse team
cheered each other on for support.
In the past week, the ladies are 2-1, their most successful stand of the season. "We’ve been playing really well this past week, and our improvement is showing. Our defense really stepped up this week, and our offense was unbelievable today," said captain Kaitlin Bottock.

The ladies’ team lost to Thomas Jefferson on Thursday, contrary to what was printed in the Washington Post. The ladies have two more games to look forword to in their first season as a varsity team, including a rescheduled home game against Wakefield on Friday.

The boys are now 4-7, having beaten AAA Yorktown last Friday. They also have two games remaining in the season including a make up game against Wakefield, which has yet to be rescheduled.

Varsity and JV lacrosse teams line up for
