In the track teams’ last home meet of the year against the Madison County Mountaineers, both the boys’ and girls’ teams were unable to come out with victories. However, both teams turned in strong performances. Mason’s boys’ team lost by a score of 79.5 to 47.5 and the girls’ team lost 78 to 38.

The boys’ team was led by junior Niles Lashway and senior Mark Murchie. Lashway, who has been getting better every week this spring, placed first in both the 110m hurdles and 200m dash and also finished third in the 400m dash, a race that he had never run before.

Murchie placed first in the long jump, the 400m dash and was on the winning 4X400m relay team and also placed second in the triple jump.

Orie Bumgarner had an impressive day finishing second in both the two mile and mile with a time of 4:57 in the mile. Travis Greene in his debut at the high jump finished second with a jump of 5’6".
